The wild Atlantic coast of southwest Europe

Beim Cabo de São Vicente

With his illustrated book GENESIS, the extraordinary Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado has given the world a "declaration of love to the sublimity and tenderness of the world". An imperishable world - A photographic homage to our planet in its original state, this is the short version of his intention. "I simply wanted to present the greatest of nature wherever I found it" he writes in the foreword to the publication. And he found it in untouched deserts, the frozen landscapes of Antarctica and the far north, in impenetrable tropical forests and in mountains of awe-inspiring majesty. But he did not find it in Europe. We, that is my wife and I, are therefore going in search of such places and impressions, starting on the wild Atlantic coast of southwestern Europe, and want to capture this landscape, which is constantly being shaped by nature, in a long-term photographic project. Wherever the opportunity arises, astronomical objects and motifs will also be included. For when sky and earth meet at the horizon line, the grandeur and sublimity of nature that Sebastião Salgado spoke of may be even more impressively revealed. This is something we want the readers of our blog to share in.
